Bonjour from Islamabad,

Very good timing to be in Hindu Kush, when the women of pagan tribes are busy in tailoring new clothes and cleaning their houses for the upcoming Kalash spring festival " Zoshi " .

Flower collection and Milk drinking (Chirik Pipik ) the rituals, performed before the spring festival, shouldn't be missed in the valleys.

A bien tot et bon voyage ..

Hi,

Better to arrange your flights a week to 10 days before the dfeparture.

Flight operation is good in summers.

Good kuck ..

Actually, I am feeling on cloud 9 while reading this post due to the mention, although a bit late as I was away from the forum for past few weeks.

Coming back to the actual question, I also think that the flight delay thing is very important and can be a big nuisance. This can be solved, however, if one goes through Gilgit as there is no permit requirement there and then the NOC is also not required if one is coming back from Chitral to Islamabad from the same route(!). So effectively, it would be the same trip with the inverse itinerary.

This proposition is workable imo since you already plan to visit Gilgit/Skardu. In fact, if I would go again, I would skip Hunza/Skardu (just to save some time otherwise the area is worth thousand trips) and rather spend those days around Shandur, Mastuj, Phandar, Gizar, Yasin Valley, etc.

Ghizer valley offers so much to the visitors from sightseeing to trout-fishing in the areas espcillay Khalti, Phandar lakes and Langar, near Shandoor pass and lake.

Good luck ..
