" Someone who declared atheism would provoke enormous shock."

I agree with Emmeff. When I was in Eastern Turkey and Northern Iraq I would just say I was Christian. A guy was even explaining to me how liberal Sulaymaniah was by saying "We even have atheists living here, can you believe it?!?"

If you're concerned about religious questions being asked, just say Christian. It prevents a lot of follow up questions.

Is there a "best" way to get from Giglit to Skardu to see the sights? I would assume buses dont stop for the most part. For instance can you hire a taxi?

“can you hire a taxi?”

yes, can hire a private vehicle.

I am sorry I wasnt very clear. I should have asked if anyone knew how much a private vehicle cost compared to a bus for the same trip.

… if taking the bus (a small 12++ seater) suggest sitting right-side going eastwards.

A private Jeep will cost you around 12000PKR from Gilgit to Skardu.Yes,the public buse 'll not stop in places where you 'd like to stop & visit so it much better & fun to have a private vehicle if you can afford.

Thanks K2 and India!

Is that per car or per person K2? Would it cost the same if 3 people split it? Sorry I am asking so many questions, this is on the very top of my list for places I want to visit, so I dont want to miss anything.

This price is for the whole Jeep (not per person) you can split the cost if other people join you otherwise you 'll have to pay the price on your own.
