Has anyone got a recommendation regarding a reliable map to purchase please? My last purchase of a 2012 map of Oman had my guide in the Empty Quarter laughing, as he told me some roads were 60-80k off! Not the best news in that kind of terrain.
You'll need to be a bit more specific as to the kind of map your after, and where you're trying to buy it from !
UB.
Google Maps on some kinds of cell phones is handy.
Check out mapmyindia. Also Indiamapstore..
Also, for which country since there is no separate country branch in South Asia TT. I only just now noted that you posted this with a Pakistan designation..
I second #1. What type of map are you looking for...asides one of Pakistan? Do you want city maps? If so, which cities? Do you want a road map? A road map for a region or the entire country? Trekking maps?
The more specific you are the more specific answers you'll get.
Google Maps does a nice job for Pakistan in general.

Something I drafted for Wikitravel a while ago....

There are three good online maps for Pakistan; OpenStreetMap, Naqsha, and Google Maps. Whilst the cities are well covered, roads in rural areas are not, with many minor roads missing - Google Maps in particular has a worrying habit of marking dried up river beds as minor roads, so if exploring out in the sticks it is a good idea to use Google Earth to double check your route.
Nelles produces a good printed map of Pakistan - this map and others are available in Saeed Book Bank in F7 markaz in Islamabad - and at cheaper prices than available online from Western booksellers.
