Plan your trip according the ground situation during your visit.During this 10 day period you can visit only few places here in Pakistan.
Here is a trip plan, i think it will help you to organize your trip

1st day.
Visit interesting places in Islamabad like Shakarparia, Rawal lake View Park, Damn e Koh, LokVirsa, In Lok Virsa you can see a glance of different culture colors of Pakistan.

2nd day.
Visit Taxila museum and back to Islamabad and then catch a Daewoo bus to Lahore.
3rd day
Visit Badshahi mosque, Badshahi fort and Mennar e Pakistan
4th day
Visit Anarkali streets and don't miss to see Flage ceremony at Wahga border.
5th day
Catch daewoo bus fro Islamabad and take some rest.
6th day.
In case by land , If you are interested to visit northern area then catch NATCO bus from Pirwadhai bus terminal, Rawalpindi or by buy air ticket for Skardo .

7th & 8th day
You can visit in these two day Gilgit city, Hunza and other interesting places that you don't want miss there.

9th day..
Back to Islamabad by land or flight
10th
Back to home country

If you are interested to visit Chitral and Kalasha valleys. It will take three days . If you want to make it by land then you must need NOC ( Non Objection Certificate). It can take some 7 to 10 days. If you want to avoid this hassle then you need to buy two sides air tickets from Islamabad to Chitral or Peshawar to Chitral .

Welcome to the North, ma sweet home.
@about safety: Try to get a flight, which will be difficult in the Dec. Although, on they way to heaven there are hurdles but you can pass by using local help, you should try to travel with some one local and use private transport.

In Gilgit-Baltistan you can fly as a bird, we don't have domestic problems, they are foreign friendly areas. Again make a local friend :)

Don't mis Hunza, the little kingdom and Shigar/Khapulo in Baltistan
