Hey all.

Myself and a friend are looking to arrive in Kathmandu in October and have 2 weeks for trekking / seeing the country. Nepal has always been on my bucket list but more specifically, reaching 5000m walking is the overall personal goal.

I see hundreds of companies offering treks online and it’s hard to judge the good from the bad so I was hoping someone could recommend some good private guides?

We’re not sure what trek to do yet, although Langtang is top at present as it seems the most…

We are two people taking a private jeep, Thamel to Syabru Besi 7am Friday March 30 2018. We have room for 2/3 more people for a reasonable contribution. Please get in touch if interested.
Note (to moderators?): We are not looking for travel companions, just a jeep share for the day.
Thanks

I have been looking for water filters and tablets for treating water in my upcoming trip to Three Passes. I'd like to share the following information that may be useful for trekkers in Nepal.
I found a paper:
Prevalence of Cryptosporidium infection and diarrhoea in Nepal.(https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8870399)
It says that Cryptosporidium is a problem in Nepal. The common tablets of treating water may not work for Cryptosporidium. Katadyn and Pristine CIO2 tablets claim they work for…

Guide

Hiring a guide is the most useless purchase I have ever made.

DO NOT HIRE A GUIDE.

One selling point for hiring a guide is that he can get you a better price for your room.
I asked people who did not have a guide how much they paid for their room. In most cases they were in the room next to mine, so the two shoukd have been the same. For every person I asked, I was paying more for my room; as much as twice their amount.

From Gokyo to Lukla I did not take the recommendations of my guide. On…

HI all,
I am planning a short trip to Nepal, arriving in Kathmandu on 9th april evening, departing from Kathmandu on 18th april morning.
Despite the short time, my main goal is to trek. I am an occasional trekker, but I've never been in the Himalayas.
I found the Mardi Himal trek suitable with my time schedule

  1. KTM
     2. KTM-Pokhara and trek to Pitam-Deurali (2100 m)
  2. Pitam-Deurali (2100 m) - Forest Camp (2550 m)
  3. Forest Camp (2550 m) - Low Camp (2990 m)
  4. Low Camp (2990 m) - High Camp (3580 m)

Hello all,

I have organised a trip to climb Chulu West (6,400 metres - near Manang)off the Annapurna Circuit. Leaving Letdar, 4160 metres on the 18th of April this year.

The cost for one person (me) is $1320 USD including guide, porters, tent, food, climbing equipment and all permits. This is for the climbing section, Letdar - summit - Letdar only so the rest of the Annapurna Circuit is not included. Should take 6 days max.

If I can get another person to join, the cost is about $1000 USD…
