The Silkair website says SIN - KTM flights are planned from late October 'subject to government approval' At least one Australian travel agency is accepting bookings now. Has anybody heard that government approval has been given and that the flights will commence as planned?

I am hoping to go on a rafting trip on the Tamur in Nepal at the end of September and have been looking into various rafting companies in Nepal. I know that Ultimate Descents probably have the best reputation but unfortunately their trip dates don't work for us. The Mountain Rafting Company have been really helpful but I was just wondering if anyone had been with them or had heard anything about them as I want to check their safety record etc before I book.
Thanks for any info

My family ( 2 adults, 3 kids ages 9, 7 and 5 ) will be in Nepal this December for about a month. I've been to Nepal quite a bit in the past, but never with the kids! If anyone can help me with a few questions it would be appreciated....

1. We are going to a be doing a little trek in the lower Annapurna area but apart from this area, does anyone have any recommendations for a lower-altitude trek of about 3-5 days with adequate lodge accomodation and easy access?

2. Do children have to pay the ACAP…

Anyone got any ideas on good maps for the Annapurna region? Either in print form and available in Kathmandu/Pokhara, or, for now, online? I'm looking for a fairly detailed map that shows the location of smaller settlements and villages in the region, even those off the main highway. Any ideas, anyone?

And while I'm at it, what books would people recommend about Nepal? I'm interested in novels, travel, and readable history and anthropology. Any anthologies of writing by Nepali writers would be…

I want to fly round trip from somewhere in South East Asia - Hong Kong, Bangkok, Chengdu, Shanghai - to Kathmandu and I don't want to spend 1000USD. Is this possible? I've searched tons of websites and every thing has been around 1000 dollars - which is too expensive for me. I've heard Nepal Airlines is often somewhat delayed by days or hours - this is really not a problem as long as they're cheaper and eventually take off. Does anyone know where to buy Nepal Airline tickets - either online…

Hello,
I will be studying in Kathmandu from August to late December. Two other students and I made plans to go to Tibet before our program starts from August 18-27. Unfortunately, the chinese embassy currently will not allow tourists into Tibet during this week and possibly next. Does anyone have any suggestions to what else we could do during this time in Nepal and/or surrounding countries? Do you know of tour guides? Thanks!

Also, a close friend of mine will be in Northern…

...that is the question! I'm going to be in Nepal to trek in the Khumbu again this November 14 - December 16. We're considering going over Cho La pass from Gokyo in route to Lobuche, however, I am hearing that we need not only crampons and ice axes but also rope and pro. Does anyone here have experience with going over the pass at that time of year and if so, was rope and rock pro necessary?
