Hello,

I have the opportunity to go to Nepal next Xmas/NY for 3 weeks. I'm just starting my research and am wondering if Nepal is worth traveling at this time or I should wait for a future opportunity in the summer? Looking for outdoors activities incl trekking, wildlife spotting, camping, etc. Is it crazy cold? Canadian here, so not fazed too much, but don't want it to be intrusive on my opportunities to explore.

Thanks for the advice!

We are finishing off our tour of SE asia in Chiang Mai and are wanting to head to Nepal to hike to base camp. What is the best way to do this? Is there some kind of bus/train we could take so we could possibly stop and see Myanmar or any other countries in between?
Thanks!

Hi there fellow trekkers,

I would like to ask for your opinions / thoughts on mine and my wife's itinerary, specifically regarding
altitude gain / realistic time-frame.

I've used a combination of the Lonely Planet and Trekking Companies itineraries as a guide, but there's some differences between the two.

I'm quite experienced but this will be my wife's first trek. We will have a porter / guide, to carry her pack.

I hope that the time spent at Kyanjin Gompa with daytrips up the peaks will…

Hi,
I'll be in Kathmandu in May and am looking to do a trek to Kailash via Simikot and then end up in Lhasa. I understand that I need to be part of a group but most group tours that I've seen return to Kathmandu after passing through Saga, while I would like to go on to Lhasa. If anyone has tips, I would be very appreciative. Thank you!
Nick

Where I come from (Yankland) trekking means backpacking and backpacking means walking into the wilderness on paths, i.e., well-worn tracks for people or pack animals WHERE CARS CAN NOT GO. On more than a couple of occasions now I have followed LP's "treks" and have spent the first day schlepping along car roads to get to the beginning of the trail which, in Yankese, we call a "trailhead". Exceedingly annoying.

So now I want to do some trekking in Nepal and have purchased the relevant LP…

-is there a possibility to travel from Chitwan to Lukla?
-we are looking for tips on the Everest trek (guide, tour operator, trek info,...) Many of the organised tours include accomodation in Kathmandu etc. Is it possible to just book a trek…

Hi all,

In May my partner & I will be trekking to EBC. We are looking to incorporate Ama Dablam Base Camp into the trek, but just have a couple of questions regarding this:

1) Is it possible to include a side trip to ADBC without staying 2 nights at Pangboche? For example, can we trek from Tengboche or even Deboche, leave our bags in Pangboche and go straight to ADBC after lunch? Or is that too exhausting/time consuming? Would it be best to arrive in Pangboche, stay the night, then trek to…
