I will arrive in Nepal on Oct. 14th. Fly to lukla on the 15th and do the EBC trek on my own (no porter/guide). Looking for anyone wanting to do this with me as it is always great to have a buddy to chat with. PM me or respond here if interested. I would like to do this in 10 days and am already fairly acclimatised (live in Bhutan). Let me know!

2. If a guide is a must, shall we hire one at KTM, or Lukla or Namche Bazar? How much will it cost for an around…

Can you recommend a place, within a day's travel from Kathmandu, where I can spend a few nights at an altitude at 3000m or higher? I am in Kathmandu now and I leave for an overland tour to Tibet on Tuesday, so I don't have a lot of time. The tour has a great altitude increase the first two nights and, thus, it would be better to acclimitize.
I have no guide book, so please include information about transportation, accomodation, and what to do while I'm at the location that you recommend, if…

Greetings,

I am in the early stages of planning an October Trek in Nepal. One of the big issues with Nepal trekking is how tough it can be to get BACK to Kathmandu after a long trek that has mostly taken you away from the Kathmandu region. The plan is to chopper it out to an area within about 8 days trek of Kathmandu and then trek back towards the city, thereby controlling when you return to the city, and not be stuck with dodgy flight schedules or bad weather delays.

At the moment, looking at…
