I read an article published in the Nepa News a couple of weeks ago saying that the Maoist are planning a general strike for 4-6 October 2007. If anyone has an update on the situation I would appreciate hearing it as I was planning to travel from Kathmandu to Besisahar during that period.

HI

Just looking for some advise..... My husband and I are planning a 2 weeks trip to China on the Beijing to Lhasa railway. We would also like to see some of Bhutan, Nepal & Tibet in the two weeks. How feasible is this? Is it long enough?
What itinerary would you suggest and in what order?
Any tips and places to stay?
Thanks in advance
Jorja

Sorry if this question is a bit silly. I still have some Nepalese Rupees from a trip I took a few years ago. It looks like I may be going back to Kathmandu soon, and I was wondering if they are still useable? I see some of the currency has changed, so I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Hi,

I will be visiting Nepal during October.
I plan to do some tracking and am looking for some advice regarding track selection.

One of my options is to do the Anapurna Circuit track. This is quite long and will probably be the only track I'll have time for.
Another option is to do two shorter tracks like Jomsom and Anapurna base camp.

Many people recommend the Anapurna Circuit, but I see advantages to shorter tracks. It is easier to cope with something going wrong in a short track, you have the…

Hi

I'm planning to do annapurna circuit sometimes during Oct (possible 15th onwards). Is it possible to do it alone? (without a guide, a porter or even partners). Apart from what the guide said about the risks of travelling alone i.e. injury, robbery, lost etc. Is there anything else I should be aware of? I have been trekking in China and Tibet for 2 months now so I'm already acclimatised and equipped with all trekking equipments.

I'm in Tibet right now and planning to trek down from Lhasa to the…

Hello.

I will visit Kathmandu october 12-15; 19-25 [in between will be in Pokhara]. Would be great to catch a beer with people back from treks - or heading out. I am planning simple day trips around Kathmandu valley, but will probably return in 2008, possibly with some friends, and would like to get advice from some people with experience of various parts of Nepal. Thanks
