I think i want to stay a potala guest house. it seems very clean and safe, unless anyone else has other suggestions?

PS thank you for everyones posts and Private Messages to me. For a first time traveller, it has been an amazing experience (even before I leave on this trip) to see how many people are willing to help random strangers.

We've been in Kathmandu for a few weeks, looking for ESL jobs in Korea, so we've got some time on our hands. This last Saturday we went to Dakshinkali, home to a Kali temple and animal sacrifices. If you're interested about the experience, read on:

Going To Dakshinkali

If you're not interested, you've probably already clicked on the back button, which means a vengeful goddess may be coming after you...!

Peace

Can anyone give me some suggestions on a rough guide on how much money you should allow per day for spending on Everest Base Camp trek. We are staying in teahouses so apart from buying water, not sure what else we would be spending money on.
Many thanks.

Everytime I read about tourism in Nepal, it's always about trekking. Is trekking is all there is to do there? I'm thinking of spending 3 weeks of my vacation there. Could anyone suggest an itinerary for a first-timer who can only do light-trekking? I'm more into visiting ethnic tribes, villages, the UNESCO sites and just learning about the people and culture. I'm the type who love to wander around the neighborhood, talk to the locals, eat local food and soak in the life and imagine how it's…

I will be spending three weeks in the Kathmandu Valley later this fall. I plan to bring a digital camera and an MP3 player.

Is it a reasonable assumption that I will be able to recharge my equipment without any problems at my hotel in Kathmandu [assuming that I have the correct plug adapter]?

Thanks.

My wife and I are planning to be in Nepal mid-January. We are coming up from India overland. We would really appreciate any help/advice/recommendations. This is what we were thinking:

1. Sunauli - Pokhara by bus
2. Spend a day or two enjoying Pokhara
3. Go on a 7-day trek - Do you recommend one or a particular guide?
4. Bus to the Chitwa NP for 5 days
5. Bus to Kathmandu
6. Spend a few days in the valley
7. Fly out to Bankok.

We have booked nothing yet. But we really appreciate any advice or help. Does…

Hi,
Am doing the Annapurna Circuit mid-October. Do I really need a 4 season bag or will a three season do? How cold does it get at night? How's the weather ?
Thanks
Steve

Hi there,

we are planning to do the Annapurna Sanctuary Treck in about three weeks time. Could anyone tell us if this year's heavy rainfalls have damaged (part of) this treck?

After the treck we had planned to stay in Kathmandu for 4 days, but because of the political situation (and the bomb a few weeks ago...) we are considering to stay in Pokhara instead. Any views on the pros and cons of Kathmandu/Pokhara would be very helpful.

Thanks!

All the best,
L&C

I'm currently in Varanasi and have somewhat spontaneously decided to make my way up to Nepal. (It'd be a shame not to with it being so close.) I was wondering if anyone could advise me as to what the procedure is for bringing Indian rupees into the country? I've actually only recently withdrawn a large amount from an ATM here so have a cluster of 500 rupee notes, yet I've been told that these shouldn't be brought into Nepal and can be confiscated at the border, and are useless within the…
