Hi everyone,

I am planning a twelve-day trip to Nepal, covering a few places like Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur, Pokhara and Chitwan in May this year.

Is it advisable to just book the hotels and look for tours when in Kathmandu, or is it better to book in advance.

Do anyone have any good tour agencies they have tried, if it is the latter, please?

My question is split into two :

Part One
I would like my wife to at least visit Nepal (it will be my 3rd trip but first for real hiking after 2 birding trips), however 2 years ago she slipped 3 discs in her back whilst trekking and so she can no longer hike more than an hour or two per day at most. We are both in our 50s.

She is not a temple person but I'd love her to be able to at least see the spectacular mountain ranges, even if she isn't able to hike them, and I'm hoping the rhododendrons…

Last week I crossed into Nepal from India (Banbasa crossing). I had 25 dollars for my Visa but they were not in pristine condition. Border officials asked if I have some more dollars as they would like bills in better condition. I asked if I can pay in Indian Rupees. They said "yes" and gave me the price in this currency. I did not have enough Rupees and only asked them out of curiosity.

So it turns out that you can pay for Nepali Visa in Indian or Nepal Rupees, not only in Dollars or Euro. At…

Hello fellow travellers!

I am looking to go to Nepal next month with my cousin and we are having a hard time picking a trek! The three we narrowed down to are EBC, Annapurna circuit, and Gokyo. If any of you have hiked any of these, please let me know how your experience was. Was it busy? What was the difficulty level? Was it scenic? Did you get to trek through snow and ice? Any information is helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hubby and I trekking to EBC for our 20year wedding anniversary and will have 5 days or so to do what we want in this beautiful country. We will have already spend a few days in Kathmandu so keen to get out and explore (but maybe no more trekking, think we would have done enough of that by the time we get back from base camp!)
Any ideas to where we should go, what we should see and do?

Hi!

We have 14 whole days in the country - arrive KTM Sat 18th depart Sun 2nd.

My girlfriend and I, both reasonably but not particularly fit (I surf and hike a bit, she cycles and hikes a bit, we both dance quite a lot), are keen to make the most of our short time in Nepal. Can anyone suggest a good hike to fit into this time (with a bit of a buffer in case of the unexpected!). We would love to go high, but to get a variety too....ideally with some birdwatching and culture too. Not asking…

I just read this article in the online edition of the Himalayan Times, about Cho La: https://thehimalayantimes.com/nepal/khumjung-cho-la-pass-becoming-riskier/

I suspect the report is written by a Ktm based journalist, but it does include some comments from locals.

My main guide and I were unable to cross this pass, to my immense frustration, last time I tried, in Dec 2015 (for what would have been my 4th crossing). This was due to the ice at the top moving around, and crampons beng required…

Hi all,

I'm going to Nepal in a couple of weeks. It's only a short trip- in my mind I had an idea of a trek over 2-3 days, something similar to the one I did in Vietnam (start at my hotel, walk up into the hills, stay in an isolated village with a local homestay family, wander back the next day via a market, walking 4-6 hours a day). However nothing like that seems to exist. Even a straightforward 1 or 2 night trek doesn't look particularly do-able.

I would be hiring a guide as I'm on my own…

Hi there!

I am planning to trek the Manaslu Circuit next week. Very excited about it. Last night I checked the weather forecast and it seems there will be snowfall and very low temperatures in the mountains next week 13-20 March [also at the Annapurna Circuit]. I am very curious what to expect; is this normal for the time of year? And would you still recommend going, or suggesting doing a alternative trekking at lower altitude [for example the Langtang trekking].

Look forward hearing....
Martij…
