I'm looking for some advice on trek duration in the Dolpo region. I understand that all food/fuel needs to be carried in (and all rubbish accounted for/taken out with you).

I would like to trek from Beni to Dolpo, up to the Phoksumdo Lake, then across to Jumla and Rara Lake. The only problem is I calculate this would take about 48 days, which may be completely unfeasible due to the food/fuel issues. Does anyone have any ideas on this or suggestions? I would be planning to go…

Hi LP crowd,
My wife and I land in Kathamandu on 4/25 and don't have a hard date for leaving Nepal (mid June probably) so we plan to attempt the Three Passes Trek and if there's time left afterward, possibly the Annapurna Circuit or (guided) Island Peak. I've found this forum very helpful and am hoping you can help answer some last minute questions.

  1. Is accuweather.com the most helpful weather forecast/radar website for Nepal? I also found this live cam: http://evk2.isac.cnr.it/
  2. Any recent…

Hi,
My girlfriend and I who are in good shape and some trekking experience are heading to Nepal next year around March and would love to do a long trek (around 14 days or so but we can be flexible). I was considering doing the Manaslu trail since it is supposedly less touristic but with equally beautiful views as ABC. To us, what's important is amazing mountain views, discovering their culture, and not too touristy. Do you think Manaslu is the best hike for us? We would like to stay in Tea houses…

Hey fellow travelers,

I'm a French intern in Kathmandu for the months to come, and I just arrived, discovering the city, its positive and negative points. Thamel is already 80% negative. :D

But I would like not to spend all my time in the office I work in, and I would also like to meet people living there, to hang out with, learn things from, and just be friends !

I checked a lot of the common internet places for events and meetups, but apart from trek preparations, I don't see many things…

Hi all,

I am planning some solo travelling for the month of July and initially wanted to go to Nepal. However I am now unsure as I remembered thats the peak of Monsoon season; does anyone know what its like there at that time? I've never been...

I'm thinking of doing some volunteering (probably through WWOOF or on a yoga retreat/at an eco centre) and some trekking. Does anyone know of any good eco centres that also offer yoga or visa versa? Or recommend the best region to go trekking? A long…

Hi people,

I'm considering spending a few weeks (probably 3) in Nepal or Himachal Pradesh in July or August. I'm focused on checking out historically interesting towns and cities, rather than trekking (since I have health problems that prevent long walks). Will transport around Nepal be a problem during the rainy season?

All the best.

I have been planning a Himalayan break for the past 5 years now. For some reason, I have just not been able to make it work. I will be in Kathmandu for all of 4 days next month. The main objective is to get as close to some spectacular mountain scenery as possible. I dont mean 'view points' like Nagarkot or Sarangkot, but get to the very lap of some high peaks. The places I found appealing so far are the Kopra ridge, Kagbeni and Syanboche.
I dont mind a bit of cheating, i.e flying or taking…

Hi everyone,

I am in the early stage of planning my trip to Nepal this year (October/November around 45 days). I have experience in mountains but not that far and therefore I am trying to prepare for things that are different to what I am used to.

Could you please answer few my questions or let me know what will be hard in the plan I have in my head? I need to say that I am the budget side of trekking and you will see in the choices I take below.

  1. I was thinking about taking 3 treks…
