I'm headed out with one climbing sherpa to climb Yalung Ri in Rolwaling on April 30th. Anyone interested in joining to share the cost of the Sherpa. Yalung Ri doesn't require a permit so it's a cheap trekking peak with a fairly easy ice climb. You would need crampons and boots which can be rented in Thamel we've got ropes and harnesses. It will require one night of camping at base camp, should take about a week round trip from Kathmandu. By the way Sherpa is very experienced several Everest…
We have finished an EBC trek, and now have plenty of gear to offload. Most was bought in Thamel, with exception of shoes that are genuine Columbia waterproof boots. Is there anywhere to sell used gear in Thamel?
Obviously plenty of it is likely fakes, but would still be nice to help some other travellers save a bit of money. We are on a longer trip, so mailing it home is likely more cost and hassle than just selling it cheap in Nepal.
we are hiking the Annapurna Sanctuary in Nov 2017. I was last here in 1993 and wonder how things have improved regarding issues around maintaining a sustainable, clean environment for the people of Nepal? How has the ACA helped improve things?
Hi,
I'm planning on doing the Great Himalayan Trail, starting in September/October of this year. If it is possible I would like to do the whole thing in one go, although I would be focusing mainly on the lower, cultural route. I appreciate how long and difficult the trail is and I've done as much research as I can. However, I am after some advice regarding guides. I want to have a guide for the trek but I'm not entirely sure how to go about finding one. I am in contact with a guide I know from…
Do the cabs use meter? Or does one have to bargain / agree on the fare beforehand?
What is the approximate cab fare from Thamel to Boudha, and Thamel to Lazimpat, please?
Thank you.
I've just heard there was an apparent glacial dam burst near Makalu Basecamp on 21 April which has caused a 3 mile dam where the Barun Khola joins the Arun River. Basecamp is inaccessible. Has anyone any news from that area as we are planning a trip there later this year.

I'm a 40ish American woman who has been in Nepal for 2 months.

So I'm getting married in about an year or so. I was wondering how to handle the language barrier gap. I can only speak basic conversation in Nepali but anything more gets uncomfortable and my English kicks in. My wife will be well educated so she can speak English but Idk about saying intimate relationship things. Same goes for sharing my stories, news, lifestyle experiences, hobbies.. It'll be weird. Idk how I'd talk to her parents besides the short casual talk in Nepali.
