Hi all,

# We are looking for some volunteer work in or around KTM, Pokhara or around Chitwan. Does anybody have good recommendations, ideas or suggestions?
We would like to do social or environmental work.

# Does anybody know if our atm card from CIRRUS - MAESTRO is acceptable at the atm's in KTM and in Pokhara?

# Which time is the best to do the Annapurna trek? 22nd of september -- 10th of october or is it better to do 3-4 weeks later? Is it 'just ' busy on the trails, or in these times extremely busy?

# We will arrive around 12pm in Sunauli I hope, coming in the morning from India's Ghorakpur. Is it possible and wise to take a direct bus to KTM, or is it better to stay overnight in Sunauli (good budget recommendation?)?

Thank you very much for your answer(s)!

Hi Bert
I can answer some of your questions ;-)

Yes – you can use CIRRUS - MAESTRO in Nepal – and yes in Pokhara
I would leave your trek until the later dates – the chances of better weather are greater then

I have written up some information at
My Nepal pages
You might find it useful, especially the tips section with some ideas of what to see and do, where to stay and eat, good transportation and what to avoid – It Might help !!??
Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions and if I can help then I will
Best Wishes and happy Travels

Rob

Either time would be good for the trek but I would say go with the later time.
After crossing the border I would say to go to Lumbini and spend a night there, Lumbini is where Buddha was born and is a major Buddist pilgrimage site, its a short bus or taxi ride from Sunauli. Catch a bus to KTM/ Pokhara the next morning.

u can easily get a bus from Sonauli to KTM but try and get a tourist one if u can cos the locals ones stop every place that has more than 2 houses and they get really arsey about making sure u sit in the correct seat... its very silly!
