We are doing an around the world trip and are debating on whether to buy an iphone. Has anybody used an iphone primarily for internet in Nepal and India and if so did you have it programed in a certain way? Also, are there a lot of internet cafes in Nepal and India? Thank you

not worth the hassle. leave your expensive jewelry at home and use the local phone booths...plenty of internet cafes in most tourist areas in india/nepal.

if you bought the iphone just now, go back and return it and get an ETEN.

happy travelling

Hey Hobbester,

I have an iPhone and the cost is ridiculous overseas even with AT&T's international plan...you only get 20 megabytes per month of data and $25 added on to your bill per month AND you have to sign up for 1 year. The cost to call the US from Nepal is over $3.00 per minute. Also, if EDGE is active and you are using just your standard phone plan you will be charged something like $5.00 per megabyte of data usage overseas. You could have EDGE turned off for your trip and just use Wi-Fi though.

The last thing I would want on vacation is a cell phone! However, to each there own!

I do not even think you can get internet connections with a cellphone in Nepal.

Besides, people travelling with their phones have been getting phone bills of thousands of dollars per month for using the net abroad (and justified, did not read the price info on their service contract).

Leave you phone home, or us it only to send and recieve text messages. Forget the net and long calls.
