Hubby and I trekking to EBC for our 20year wedding anniversary and will have 5 days or so to do what we want in this beautiful country. We will have already spend a few days in Kathmandu so keen to get out and explore (but maybe no more trekking, think we would have done enough of that by the time we get back from base camp!)
Any ideas to where we should go, what we should see and do?

With 5 extra days you can set up a visit to Chitwan National Park to see rhinos and even a tiger if lucky, stopping in Pokhara for a day. All trekking/travel agencies are happy to set this up for you. Few hundred bucks at most.
Actually instead of flying back from Lukla, you can continue trekking as far as Phaphlu Salleri, with a possible detour to Jumbesi. If you're fast hikers, hiking to Shivalaya is not impossible. That would be different from the trekking above Lukla.
we'd love to go to Chitwan, but thinking it maybe a bit hot, going late April...but wow, it looks like an insane part of Nepal to visit. Thanks heaps!
oh, we haven't thought about not flying back to Kathmandu from Lukla! Thanks heaps, will def do some research into this idea and see what we come up with :O)
