Does power cut happen often (like more than twice daily or for a long period of time, i.e. more than an hour) in Nepal, please? Is it advisable to bring a torch light?

I suppose a mobile phone can serve as one too, but charging it might be a problem too?

Cheers!!

Load shedding used to be a very regular occurrence in Kathmandu to Pokhara (and I assume elsewhere in the country), but I understand it's been sorted out now. Turns out it was graft, and now they're supposed to be on near 24-hr electricity. That said, I always take a torch with me when I travel abroad, it's no fun being caught out with no light in unfamiliar surroundings, and power outages can occur in any country. Plus if you're going trekking, it's pretty much mandatory.

Cell phone led lights work decently well, and you'll have no problems charging electronics on many treks.

I've been twice in the last year or so and don't have difficulties. Might go out once in a while, but not that often and not that long.

But while considering this, remember that there might be important things to be concerned about.

If you are trekking you'll definitely need a flashlight, and cell phone LED won't do the job. (Headlamp is best option.)

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Sounds like a mobile phone with a powerbank mighth just do the job, as we won't be going trekking, or at least not something extensive / overnight. Most probably just doing Sarangkot to see sunrise.

There is still load shedding (electricity cuts) in areas outside of Kathmandu & Pokhara. When I was in Bardia recently, they still lengthy times without electricity.
