After spending 2 days acclimatizing in Dingbouche, is it possible to trek directly to Lobuche in a day? Is the climb to high?

Most organized treks to EBC do it(to save time?), however I've seen and met too many people that developed AMS that day.....

You think it's better to spend overnight at Dughla?

It's sure "safer".
The hike to Dughla is quite short and easy so you may want to hike "light" that morning to Chukung and climb to the Ri (maybe just the lower hill depending on time and fitness) than return to Dingboche, take the backpacks and hike to Dughla.
I am not familiar with nice side trips from Dughla hence the suggestion to go to Chukung to make the best out of this extra night

Nameche Bazar > Acclimatization day > Tengbouche > Dingbouche > Acclimatization day > Dughla (with day trip to Chukung) > Lobuche > Gorek Shep

How is this for the EBC plan?

OK. Then next day Gorakshep > EBC proper and back to Gorakshep. Make sure you trek all the way up to the 'real' base camp, beyond the Ice Fall. It is an other-worldly experience. Unfortunately most guides only bring their clients to a spot much nearer Gorakshep. It might have been a base camp long ago, but not anymore.
I obviously don't suggest you climb the ice fall! You just see it from a distance.

Many people go DIngpoche - Lobuche, some develop AMS, most not. Some stay in Lobuche for two nights to acclimate. It depends so much on the individual how he/she fares. Certainly stopping at Dulgha for a night is the safest option, but not necessary for everybody. Dulgha and Lobuche are both not among the nicest places along the EBC trail. Distances between all these are so short that many grow impatient. For a reasonably acclimated person only 1.5-2 hours between each village/lodge cluster.

Best time to go to EBC is in March-May, no misunderstanding about were the camp is...

A tour of climbers-EBC in 2016 by Alan Arnette. The Icefall is obvious and the brown sloping hill you see west (left of Pumori) is Kala Patthar. Notice that you can see the summit of Everest from part of the camp.
