I am thinking about coming to Pokhara for a month or two (October / November).

I was wondering how much would renting a small apartment cost? I dont need anything fancy, but I dont want to live in a dump either. I only need 24 fast enough wifi and a place for me and my stuff.

Another question relates to security, in other words how safe are my stuff in such rent apartment? I know nothing is 100% safe, but if I decide to bring my bicycle along and keep it in there when I am not riding, do I need to worry someone could potentially break in?

How is Nepal for road cycling anyway, are the roads too crowded for such activity there?

I would also like to join a team for a Annapurna trek most probably (or similar), can one easily find and join a group that attends such trek?

Cheers!

Hotels and guest houses are the 'normal' accomodation in Pokhara, renting an apartment is uncommon.

I always stay at The Pokhara Star Inn, they have a lovely one bed apartment, fully equipped with constant hot water and good Wi-Fi. Muna and Narayam look after you like family, great place. You may have to book early, as they only have the one apartment and it's popular with long stayers.

Thanks for the replies. What is the difference between hotel and guest house? I guess I just a need a place for myself if I can find something reasonably priced for 2 month's stay.

If you're going to stay a long time, I should not book and commit in advance on Internet. You can spend the first day(s) looking for what you like, also the location. Then you can discuss the price. Accomodation in Pokhara is cheap, you can find a pleasant room with bath, hot water, wifi already for 800 to 1500 rps a day.
Theft will not be a concern.
There are many secondary 'roads' with little traffic, but many roads look more like tracks, and of course there are lots of climbs.

I guess not booking in advance would be the best since I am not in a hurry.

I wish I could find something with kitchen and fridge (since I have quite lot of my own eating habits) but I will see how possible is that anyway.

Too bad there is no lidl in pakhara :D

Little Tibetan is another nice guesthouse on the Lakeside and my favourite. Renting a flat was possible just for $150 per month (at least two years ago), but you should be aware of electricity problems, lack of gas, hot water etc. Staying in a guesthouse would be much more comfortable, although a bit more expensive. (Anyway, you can try to bargain if you plan to stay for long time).

There is a good, cheap supermarket ( the one with the basement, other SM are not very good) at Lakeside and a large Bhat Bhateni one in central Pokhara.
