Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Nepal for two weeks and plan to spend one week trekking. In my other week I am keen to send some time learning about Buddhism and meditation. I have read about Kopan Monestary and was considering visiting there. Can anyone attend their daily teachings and prayers or is it guests only? I could consider staying there either although I don't really have three nights which is their minimum stay.

I have also read about Sadhana yoga-meditation retreat in Pokhara on some old forums which has mixed reviews and I think has a Yoga Hatha emphasis.

Himalaya Buddhist Meditation Centre seems to offer meditation classes and are doing a weekend retreat while I am there but there is no information about the retreat. Anyone any experience of this place?

Finally I have read about Pokhara Buddhist Meditation Centre which has very mixed reviews online...

I don't have time to do any of the more intense 10 day courses unfortunately.

So as you can see I've done my homework but really just looking for personal experience of these places or any suggestions that i am not aware of that you might recommend!

Thank you

I saw a lot more Hinduism than Buddhism in Nepal. There are Hindu religious locations and activities all over. I would suggest East Asia for a more Buddhist focus.

Why don't you contact them for the information?

Welcome,

Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, Nepal, Japan, Myanmar and Mongolia have a lot of Buddhism. I am about to complete a grad minor in East Asian studies and hope I can help

Hello r.nimur,

as I am going to Nepal in a few months and more or less on the same plan / questions... I was wondering if you did some meditation in the end and if you would recommend (or not) your experience.

Thanks :)
