Hi, we´re headed for a honeymoon in Nepal mid-september and are planning to do the Langtand trek with a peep into Gosainkund also:
Does anyone know what the temperatures are like in this region in sept-oct so how much warm clothes will we need?
Also, what is the best way to find a good guide and potentially porter, and what are decent rates for guides at the moment (Im assuming the LP 7th ed is a bit out of date already) ?
-john

Dear John,
You will have great time with your wife there in langtang .September is the best time to go trekking ever. The temperatures will be neither cold nor hot; it won’t go less then 1 degree at the night. If you have normal down jacket and sleeping that will be good enough for you trek, But of course you need to have pairs of warm socks, gloves,, hat, sunglases, etc
John ,if you are really looking for a guide ,who can speak good English, who has knowledge about first aid treatment, who can explain about ,culture, mountain, flora and fauna etc you should contact to this man who was our guide when we were there:trekkinguidetoo@gmail.com

Gosiankund IS high altitude. Well, it's high enough...'normal' clothes will not be sufficient.... take a down jacket...
I dont' think your chances of finding a 'good' guide at Dunche or Syabru Besi will be good.... I always arrange to take a guide from a reliable trekking agency in Kathmandu.
When you finally reach Kyanjin Gompa, go a bit further! Trek up to Langshisha Kharka, about 8 hours return journey in one day. There are no teahouses there but you can do it in one day and return to Kyanjin. You can also hire horses from Kyanjin... Well worth the effort. (and few tourists)

Thanks for the tips. It sure seems like Lanshisha Kharka is worth an extra day, at least everyone seems to say so. How is it with "teahouse" trekking, I assume the huts/houses on the way are not very warm at night? I come from a cold country (Finland) but am also used to having central heating everywhere. (I already learned my lesson in 06 in Uttaranchal, India)

Yes, the tea houses along the way are really good, Locals who run these tea houses are really friendly, they have good hospitality, and they are really helpful,
Food is good and hygienic ,rooms are really clean ,if it is too cold, you can even ask the blanket with them ,you can have really hot shower every day on your trek which is heated by solar ,
You will really enjoy it; let me know if you need further information or contact to this guide:trekkinguidetoo@gmail.com
