Hi guys!
I'm a solo traveler living & teaching English in Taiwan.
I'll be travelling in Nepal for 3 weeks during the end of July and beginning of August.. I know, wham bang in the middle of monsoon season. This is however the only time available.
Some people advise against trekking at this time - downpours, leaches, wet morass-like trails & landslides being the main deterrents, while other travelers recommend the peace and quiet of trekking out of season.
I'd like to do an independent hike between Jomsom and Pokhara, including Poon hill.

One idea is to fly to Jomsom from Pokhara, chill for a day, then hike to Kagbeni for a night, then back to Jomsom, and then start from Jomsom to Nayapul for a few days.
So I'm looking for an open-minded trekking partner(s),
as well as any tips, advice, suggestions about doing this trek.

Happy travels!
JB :)

Don't bother staying eves in Jomsom. Kagbeni, Muktinath(Ranipawa) and Marpha are places to visit. Marpha is a fairly short walk from Jomsom.

Not so sure if hiking from Jomsom is a good idea, with the trail between Tatapani and Jomson largely destroyed by the road most hikers seem to opt for bussing this section and then hiking up from Tatapani.

Yes but there are NATT trails that avoid the road almost all of the way. Till Kalopani (and further down to Ghasa if you take the longer trail on the East bank), it is quite scenic ... but possibly during the monssoon you will not see much.
I'd rather question going to Ghorepani Poon Hill, why go to a viewpoint if there is no view ? More interesting to visit authentic villages by doing the Mohare Danda trek in reverse after Tatopani.

Hi JB, I am planning to trek in Upper Mustang in the beginning of August for a couple of weeks. I am waiting for a friend to confirm that she can join me - I need to be a minimum of two people for the permits - I can send you some information on my plans if you like? I also know one other person is looking for a trekking partner in Mustang in June or July in case August is too late. Apparently June, July and August are perfect for Upper Mustang since it's in the Himalaya rain shadow. Let me know!
