I am flying through Delhi on the way to and from Kathmandu. Do I need a transit (or any other type) of visa? I have read on other posts that its not neccessary to have a transit visa if you are not leaving the airport and just have a layover. My situation though is that I will need to collect my bags in Delhi and recheck them onto the second flight I'm taking since they are booked as two seperate tickets. Can I still do this (go to baggage claim) without a visa??

Thanks!!!

Doing the same, and had to apply for a transit visa. Did that just yesterday at Indian Embassy here in Prague! :-)

Claiming the luggage means going through customs so get a transit visa (same day availabilty with ticket). Usually you can get it 15 days in advance for 72 hours. In the UK though they are offerring a much more generous concession. But, that means going through the zoo that the Indian embassy/consulates there have become..
