If my (non-Thai) flight out of Lukla is delayed and I miss my Thai flight to Bangkok, will I simply be able to stand by for the next flight? Will I need to call in advance? During mid-November will I be able to get the next flight, or will there be a long waiting list?
Thanks,
Rourke

The flights from Ktm - Bkk are very heavily booked at that time of year. You will have to try standby.

Just make sure you leave enough time to transfer flights. If you're worried now about missing a connection sounds like you havent allowed much leeway.

They will likely rebook you on the next available flight as a courtesy (which could take many days or longer) - but I wouldn't count on it. If you do not have a full fare ticket they could very well tell you you're on your own forcing you to buy a new ticket.

Filights have fee schedules, the higher fee schedules are more flexible and more likely to compensate in these circumstances.
Short answer, it depends on your schedule so you'd have to ask ThaiAir.
My advice to anyone trekking in the Everest area is to allow a "cushion" day or two between your planned return to Kathmandu from Lukla and your scheduled international flight. In the spring I know of people who were waiting for 2 and 3 weeks to find a single seat out of Kathmandu on any airline - not just Thai. What Thai's action would be in such an event is best answered by Thai airlines - but my guess is you would simply be wai-listed for the next available seat and you could be one of several people on the list. If you are delayed, you could phone Thai's Kathmandu office from Lukla. Yonzon is right ....normally Thai does not require you to reconfirm your seat. Maybe you should try to change your ticket before you go to Nepal - although I am sure there will be a charge to do that but it would save you some stress while trekking worrying about something that might not happen.

All the other details from above posters aside.....I use Thai Airlines quite a bit and have found them to be very accomodating and reasonable. It could be the fact that they are Thai and naturally that way, or just that their country depends so heavily on tourism. If you miss your flight I would be shocked if they punished you in some way financially for a new ticket as they have never done that to me. If the flights are overbooked that will be another story and beyond the control of the airline, but you should expect to be treated nicely by the airline as a general rule.
