Hi!

We have 14 whole days in the country - arrive KTM Sat 18th depart Sun 2nd.

My girlfriend and I, both reasonably but not particularly fit (I surf and hike a bit, she cycles and hikes a bit, we both dance quite a lot), are keen to make the most of our short time in Nepal. Can anyone suggest a good hike to fit into this time (with a bit of a buffer in case of the unexpected!). We would love to go high, but to get a variety too....ideally with some birdwatching and culture too. Not asking much am I?! Clearly we will have to make compromises with the short time.

Very grateful for everyone's expertise.

Best regards Nick

EDIT: We prefer no guide and would like to stay in teahouses etc. My gf visited years ago but its my first time - however Im keen to spend as much time up high as possible; the delights of Kathmandu can wait til Im old...

Langtang for instance, if you have extra days you can also visit Gosainkund, or Gatlang, a larger, more interesting Tamang village.

Funny that, now that we are old, we prefer the "delights" of Nepal away from Kathmandu... though not necessarily restricted to way "up high" (we enjoy the villages of the middle hills).
