Hi there everyone!!

I just got back a few months ago from 18 months travelling and to be honest i'm not settling in at home at all...i really want to get going again, but the thing is, i haven't been able to save much money since getting back. I'd have enough money to get msyelf as far as Nepal and keep myself over there for a few months, but i was wondering about teaching English over there.

What's the best way to go about it? I'm in Ireland, and all i can find is agencies that charge an absolute fortune to place you over there. Am i able to arrange my own working visa, or do i need sponsorship?

Secondly, I suppose this is the most important question, is ther much demand for English teachers in Nepal?! I know that there is in surrounding countries, but just not sure about Nepal...also, what's the pay like? Would it compare to Korea/China/Thailand?

Ahhhh i'm getting excited now, i'd really love to head over there for a year or so....any help appreciated!! :)

How much English teaching experience do you have?

I've done a 40 hour tefl course, given grinds here and volunteered for a couple weeks in an orphanage in cambodia...that's about it!

I doubt you'll get a paying job in Nepal but certainly you can arrange to work (voluntarily) in Nepal by searching the web for schools there and approaching them yourself. You could probably arrange a some accomodation into the deal as well. A couple of users on this site have excellent contacts in Nepal and you should get in touch with them for more advice. The one I am thinking of are Nepali_Ann (not been on here for a while but her profile has all her contact details) and stilltrekkin. Both can be found via the search engine. Alternatively, try the Nepal country group on Facebook.com for tips.

I will be going back to india next week ,should try to get some volunteer work myself, there are many of the religious associations who will cater to education in nepal, you might want to try those, if u want some inputs i can ask some of the nepali students out there in mangalore , if they have any idea
