dress in layers...i prefer silk as base layer. fleece next, and then outer shell.. haven't done ebc so don't know the temperature ranges but probably you will only need fleece during the night or at altitude.

take a loot at my gear list: CLICK HERE for an idea.

down jackets are bulky. go with the layering approach..

Mid October is not too bad. I love down jackets They pack small and are nice and snuggly at night, You will appreciate it from lobuche and upwards.

you can rent everything you need in Pokhara or ktm, there are 100's of trekking shops.

I also love down jackets. They don't weigh much, pack small, and they can really take off the chill as you walk around the village or your tea house in the evenings. That said, for trekking, you want several lightweight layers, as suggested above, for the trail so you can adjust to conditions. If you have a down layer, I'd bring it. Otherwise, you can rent or pick up a cheapy in Kathmandu.

Light to midweight down jacket is nice to have, down pants no. Usually there is no need to trek wearing the thing, only for evenings and shady afternoons from Periche and up.

Take also light fleece pants, at least powerstretch, in addtion to long underwear.
