ryandury,
If the Zamberlans leather boots are a bit cumbersome for you (bear in mind that good leather boots will fill really good if worn for a while... plus I own a pair of Zamberlan Civettas and absolutely love them!!), then a lighter pair of composite boots, still with ankle support would do. Just make sure they have a more rigid sole than the normal running shoes or basketball boots... Two important aspects need to be kept in mind:
1) No ankle support, and you increas the risk of compromising your trek, meaning being carried away on a yak or donkey, or even by helicopter. Ankle injury up at Gokyo or Thorung la is just not on!
2) Soft soles mean your feet will get really tired very quickly, as the treks in the popular Himal treks, while not adventure expeditions, are definitely not your average jogging surfaces in the city.
So whatever you chose, and luckly these days there must be something fitting you, keep these two rules in mind: ankle supprt (hence footwear higher than the normal running shoe), and somewhat more rigid sole. But not totally sitff like the Everest climbing boots. Just a halfway between a running shoe, and a La Sportiva Makalu, say...
