Direct flights: Europe to Kamandu

Austrian flights are seasonal (I think October-March). Transavia had a direct flight from Amsterdam (though it made stop in Sharjah). You're better off fidning something through the middle East (or India).

I had the same problem. Finally I booked through Qatar Airlines via Doha. They have flights via Doha to quite a few European capitals. I've read that Doha airport is quite "dodgy" and overbooked, so I'm thinking of reserving in some sort of a private lounge they have there. I don't know if anyone has been there and knows if it's worth it.

I have travelled with Qatar Airways twice - once to Nepal and once to Pakistan and they were fine. Later this year I am going with Gulf from London simply on the basis that they had a better price. Worth checking them out. Not sure if they fly from other European hubs.

In response to #2 I have transitted Doha four times and it is fine. A modern airport (getting even more modern now with the latest expansion), absolutely no security problems. I wouldn't bother with a private lounge.
