Hello,
I haven't been able to find much info on the bus between Kathmandu and Pokhara.
Where is this booked and when? Can I book it on the day/day before or do I need to get in well in advanced?
What is the approximate cost of the bus?
Where does it leave from?
Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
Cheers,
Andy

Hello. I did the trip years ago (95 or 96), can't remember the fare, or the name of the bus station I went from. I do remember, tho', that I just pitched up at the station and got a ticket for the same day travel without any problem. This would've been sometime in September (ie slightly out of season). As Pokhara's a bit of a trav hang out, this might not be quite so simple if you were trav at the height of season.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes sorry I should have said when I will be heading there and back. Roughly between the 18th and 30th of November.
Does anyone else have any information?
Thanks.
Never got the bus between the two cities as I was on a n Enfield, but the buses leave Katmandu from near Durbar Sq. I did a quick Google and found this crowd:
Tourist Bus Service.P.O. Box: 5221, Jyatha, Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Phone: 977-1-4267890, 4265079, Fax: 977-1-4257476
Never used them, but have a look on Google yourself.

Walk into any travel agent office in kathmandu and they will book the ticket for you and give you all details. Book atleast one day in advance if you want a good seat.
There are several "Tourist Bus" companies that do the run from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Most of them leave from the katyipath around 06.30, as above says -- pop into any of the travel agents in Thamel (I would personally use Himalayan Magic Adventures) and they will sell you a ticket, It's best to buy one the afternoon before -- Earlier if possible then you can pick your seat !!
There are also 2 "Luxury" Busses to Pokhara -- Golden Travels and Greenline, they cost about $11 and include lunch in the price -- they are a but quicker and more comfortable.
Details are on

Please see the Transportation tips section at the bottom of the page. You might find them useful
I hope that helps a little

If you can afford it, go with the luxury bus. The standard ones are a hit/miss affair and the drivers can be cavalier in their attitude on the road.
My recollection was that they leave quite early in the morning and many restaurants are closed at the time. So, make sure you bring something with you to snack on - the wallahs who are there selling chocolates & other "snack" food charge a fortune over and above mrp.

The Green luxury tourists buses go from Kantipath (a green bus station opposite the Naharyaniti palace walls) ...it's the road as you walk out of Thamel with Fire and Ice cafe on the right and another coffee place , Tibet Book Store and NOrth Face store on the left.
The bus leaves for Pokhara at 8am, better to be there early and request special seat if you want one. You can book the day before, or perhaps days before. Don't leave booking till the last minute.
I forget the cost but it seemed minimal and included lunch at the Silver River Springs Resort near halfway point of (interesting) Mugling.
The bus stops here and there for those requesting the toilet and those who want coffee on the way. Nice scenery if you're not bus-sick...I always am.
