I will be in Nepal in November. However I will only be there for a week or so as I'm trying to fit in a trip to India in a two and 1/2 week vacation. I want to enjoy the fresh air before entering India, so I want to make sure to go on a trek in Nepal that is less crowded.

There are many topics about hiking the region so I'm hoping someone can help me work out my quick itinerary.

I will be arriving into Kathmandu at 20:00 (missing the last flight to Pokhara). So will rest until I can catch Pokhara flight at 8:00. Will arriving into Pokhara at 9:00 be too late to start a journey into the region?

I've already been advised to stay clear of Poon Hill and go to Mohare Danda for the view.

Will i need a guide? I've heard numerous claims that one isn't necessary as it is crowded with tourists and clear paths.

Obviously I also want to do this journey safely, I understand the dangers of AMS. So I know I'm sort of limited in terms of shortening my time in that regard.

Thank you in advance.

Hi !
would be great for your choice to Nepal trip month of November. That time is good weather in the Himalayas on Annapurna region. As i saw your interest just for short time , i recommend you hiking up to Ghorepani Poonhill and Mohare dada Trekking . It is quite easy and more luxurious trip. I suggest you that bring one guide with you is fare batter than alone travel. Some times altitude and sickness problems in the mountain . it is easy to consul to your private Guide.
If you are interest more information. come to P Message.
thanks

The shortest possible nice trek would be Panchase, 2 days or even less. Then Poon Hill, very touristy, possible in 3 days, or even 2 and a half day. The Mohare Danda trek normally takes 5 days, including transport, yes you can start the first day after 9 am. AMS is not a danger at those altitudes. It is up to you to decide whether to hire a guide or not.

HI tszukowski,
I suggest you Mohare Danda Trek, no touristy, best views, and no need permit but hire at least a trekking guide because of chances to miss the original trail, huge jungle... it is not as comfort and facilities as Ghorepani route because of eco-community lodge...
We have organized Kathmandu flight to Pokhara - drive to Galeswor and trek to Banskharka within a day...thus, the itinerary will be 5 days until the day you back to Pokhara.
feel free to drop a line if you have any further questions...
Good Luck!!!

Yes, an advantage of Mohare Danda and Panchase is that you don't need any permit at all.

No risk of AMS on poon hill trek, you will sleep below 3000 meters above sea level:)

Mardi Himal is a short trek from Pokhara as well! You can take a taxi from Pokhara to Dhampus early morning
from there you walk to Forest Camp. Next day walk to High Camp. In my opinion, a guide is not necessary.
From High Camp next morning go to Mardi Himal basecamp with exellent views of Machapuchre etc and back to High camp. From there it`s possible to return to Pokhara within one day. If you plan to do that in this short time, you shoud not be prone to altitude sicknes!

Thank you for all your responses.

So now I'm looking into Mardi Himal or Mohare Danda.

Which one of the two offers a more diverse scenic experience and is inexpensive?

Mohare Danda is community run, not for profit, and includes homestays in untouristy villages, the Mohare Danda viewpoint is similar to Poon Hill except the crowds.
The Mardi Himal trek is mostly on a ridge where there are only lodges, no villages, although you can also pass through villages in the Mardi Khola valley.
