Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Nepal early April and looking to do thia trek. I'm a solo female with a woeful sense of direction so I think I'll need to find some buddies or a guide. Does anyone have experience of doing this trek with a guide or group? I am aware that I could book myself into a large group online before I go but that doesn't really appeal to me. I'd rather a small group and to use local services. I'd be happy to try to find someone to buddy up with and hire a guide between us maybe. I had two questions -

1) Should I go about organising the guide or group from Kathmandu or wait until I get to Pokhara? I'm planning to travel to Pokhara as soon as I can after arrival.

2) Does anyone have a guide recommendation?

3) If I wanted to try to find trekking pals where might be a good place to stay? I'm 28 year old female.

4) When I did the Salkantay trek before in Peru when we arrived we were able to join into a group. i'd definitely rather a smaller group as I'm keen to meet locals. Will this be the case for this trek as it's less popular?

5) Would I be better off just doing one of the more touristy treks? I hear Poon Hill is fool proof and full of other travellers! But I am not that drawn to that kind of experience and I love the ethos of the community trails...

Anyone with advice or personal experience would be very helpful!

Thanks!!

Not a popular trek, so very unlikely you'll find someone else at your dates.

I'm arriving KTM on 22 March and will be around for April and May.

I've walked the Langtang, Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit 15-25 years but have not been to Nepal since 2002. I would be quite interested in doing something new if you can cope with someone in their 50s who walks quite slowly.
