What do you think about Guruvayur (near Thrissur – Kochi region)? Is it worth going there to see elephants (that’s the only reason why I’m thinking about that place)? How much elephants it’s possible to see there? That time is the best to see bathing elephants?

Thanks in advance for you opinions,

Regards

Magda

i'm a complete novice to india and will be spending 3 months there from july. i plan to spend the first month teaching in dharamsala through volunteer tibet and was expecting to land in delhi, stay a night and then get a bus up the next day. i was a bit apprehensive about doing this alone on my first trip to india.
i just had an email from volunteer tibet about their reception and orientation service which costs u.s.$150, for which you are met at airport and taken by taxi to a tibetan community…

Hi
Just looking for some advice. We’ll be in India from 17th March to 7th April (flying in and out of Delhi). We want to see a little bit of Rajasthan but our main aim is to head to Himachal Pradesh. Can anyone advise a good route and timescale for up north. We’re really keen to do a bit of walking/trekking but want to do this through a reputable company. Can anyone advise us on which parts of HP will be best for this time of year, and a decent company to take us on a 3 day trek/walk/hike.

Hey folks,

I'm heading out for a month from Chennai to tour south India, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Anyone interested in a travel companion for some or all of that, give me a buzz. It is always nicer to travel with people.

I'm leaving Chennai on or around March 10th. I'm extremely flexible with itinerary. We can go fast or slow as we like, I've got no set schedule. Probably prefer to spend more time in Kerala than TN right now.

I'm an active person, happy to walk all day and happy with living basic…

Hi
My wife and I are planning a month or so in India and want to travel to Ladakh; I have some mobility issues and don't think I could handle a series of 12 hour bus trips.
We also want to travel by land to see as much as possible on the way to and from Ladakh. Many years ago I rode around the north of India by Enfield......so I don't want self drive. Also it seems that there is little price difference between self drive and hiring a car with driver, so using a driver is our preferred option.

Can…

My three friends and I are looking to travel to Leh during the late part of May 2007.
We are looking for reputable agencies that could take us around the area to see its many highlights...
We are looking for well spoken guides, flexible tour options and a good service reputation.....

Your recommendations are appreciated!

The best fun I had in Udaipur was when my local friends took me to the only dance club in the city. I don't think it is in the guide book(well, not mine anyway). It is situated on the roof top of the Hotel India International. It is 100 rupees to get in and that gets you a free drink as well. It is called MKP (my kind of place)

it is well worth going as it is soooo much fun. they play a mix of hindi and western music and it is best to go at about 8:30pm as they shut at 10:30pm.

It is about…

postage

I spent last year living and working in India and I became very close with some of the families I worked with. I would like to write them but hate feeling that would feel obligated to write me back when they truely cannot afford the postage. I want to send them some postage so they can write to me. Does anyone know an internet site or a way to purchase postage in the US to send with my letter to them. If I send them money they would be offended.
thanks
