My wife and I are American and moving to Mumbai for a couple of years in October and I will be working in Mahapi Navi/Mumbai area. We're in our 20's with no kids and would like to live somewhere near enoughto work and hopefully near other expats and fun stuff in general. In 2 weeks, I’m flying into Delhi and want to get the most cost-effective connectivity option. eg. SIM, mobile WIFI, etc. I’m traveling onto Ladakh for trekking so I at least want to be able to text. Any suggestions? Ideally, I’d like to get something in the airport to avoid running around Delhi.

Hello fellow travelers: this august I will be in Ladakh again and hope to make it to Hemis monastery. Last time could not find transportation to go there. It is 45 kms from Leh. Anybody can advice how to get there?
One option would be to hire a car, ask to wait for the day and return. It seems expensive though.
Last time could not find a shared taxi to go and also get a sure return to Leh.

What are the allowed ports of arrival on a 12 month tourist visa? I found a list (ref 1) of ports of arrival for TVOA but not for a tourist visa. Are the ports of arrival the same? I'm considering to go on a guided tour from Chennai to Cochin visiting Temples, Periyar and backwaters . I have the choice (good prices) to go during middle of September or at the end of October . How is the weather like during these months? I cannot think of ruin my Holiday for rainy bad conditions. Some advice please…. Was just flagged at MUM for carrying an Iridium sat phone which is apparently a big no-no and a violation of an 1885 law and a handful of others.
