I am trying to choose a program to complete my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in India. I was going to go with Shiva Yoga Peeth: https://www.shivayogapeeth.in/, but wanted to do a bit more research about other schools in the area before I booked.

I traveled to India about 2 years ago and was only in the south; Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Any advice for traveling in the north? Any advice for solo female travelers?

Peace.

Hello Crazywanderer,

I was wondering if you did a program at Parmarth Niketan Ashram or did you just stay there while visiting Rishikesh? I am looking to complete my 200 hour yoga teacher training.

Also, I am planning to travel late June through July and possibly August, is Monsoon season a terrible time to go to Rishikesh?

Thank you for your help!

Hi,sunriseyes7

Best Time to Visit Rishikesh

Although Rishikesh enjoys favorable climate throughout the year, here’s a monthly breakup of Rishikesh’s climatic conditions so that you can plan when to go:

October to February: These months constitute the winter season in Rishikesh and see an average temperature of 19°C to 27°C. Despite the slight chill, this season is ideal for rafting and many travelers often visit Rishikesh during this time. January is the coldest month in Rishikesh and it is advisable to carry heavy woolens during this time.

March to June: March boasts of a favourable weather to try rafting and also be a part of the famous International Yoga festival. These months constitute the summer season in Rishikesh where June is the hottest month with temperatures rising up to 35 degree Celsius. However, the crowds are less, making it a good time to enjoy a peaceful vacation in this little town. Though rafting is closed but during this time, many hoteliers offer great discounts from June onwards.

July to September: Rishikesh receives average rainfall during the monsoon months starting from July to September. Owing to rains, the water level increases and rafting is closed. Discounts continue to lure budget travelers in the monsoon season as well.

Although June can be hot, Rishikesh is a beautiful destination and has charm in all seasons.
