Varanasi to Khajuraho - no train

Going in the opposite direction I took a bus from Khajuraho to Satna and a train from there to Varanasi.
According to google maps best route would be:
train 12168 at 10.28 up to Manikpur Junction (eta 14.28),
train 12447 at 17.05 from Manikpur Junction up to Mahoba Junction (eta 19.35)
train 54162 at 21.40 from Mahoba Junction eventually arriving in Khajuraho at 23.00

Looks like you can book that route from Allahabad. You can take a local bus and pick up the train there.

MGS is about 45-60 minutes outside of Varanasi. If you need to travel on Saturday then you need to travel unreserved - certainly the second leg, and probably the first.

For the first leg, there should be 4-5 trains from MGS to CNB which depart MGS between 09:00 and 10:10.

It seems a number of trains were temporarily cancelled to allow some infrastructure works at Varanasi.

I would amend that option to take the train (rather than a bus) from either MGS or Varanasi Junction to Allahabad Junction.
