Hello,
Can anyone suggest good ethnic travel agents who deal with economy tickets to Bangalore from the bay area/Sunnyvale/San Jose? PM me if you don't want to post here.

Go to any Indian store (one at the corner of Lawrence expy and evelyn I think) and get a copy of India Abroad and contact the travel agents that advertise in it. Best fares are on Swiss Air and much better service to India than other airlines. If you have mileage with AA, then for 50,000 miles you can get a roundtrip on Swiss.

We used to fly west through Asia, usually on the very nice Singapore Airlines (Hot Stewardesses). Long layovers and travel times (35 hours) have forced us to turn to Lufthansa. You can fly San Francisco > Frankfurt > Bangalore in about 21-22 hours. No that we have an infant son, this shorter route becomes even more desirable.

Also note that Bangalore is usually more expensive than Chennai which is just a five hour express train away.

Both #2 & 3 are dead on. I agree about the stews as well (aesthetic appreciation only)..
