Having some fun booking train tickets online (after much angst registering with Indian Railways). Getting the trains come up but when I come to pay using the international cards gateway ( booking from UK) I get a message saying 'nationality code does not exist'. Has anybody else had this problem and if so what did you do to solve it? The problem is not with my bank as I have checked with them. I have emails from Indian Railways saying I have been charged and will be refunded.

There are issues always with IRCTC, first registration, then paying, sometimes other issues. Pay a small fee and use a travel agent.

A chap is very famous and comes with good reviews for Indian train tickets, on Lonely Planet as well as Trip Advisor and some other forums. You can search on Google. Company name Train tickets something like that.

If you have an Amazon account (any country) than book on Yatra. You can check out with Amazon pay.
FYI: you can also use international credit cards on Yatra but the tickets have to be booked at least three days in advance.

I would only ask / check that your registration is complete and confirmed.

I last booked tickets in November for travel early this year, and had no problems.

In the interests of replicating the problem, can you disclose exactly which berths you were trying to book?

I've had trouble with the payment gateway for irctc for the last three days. In fact I would say that it only works about 60% time.

Please use AMEX. It works well with IRCTC.

Just to confirm, I completed a 'test purchase' of a ticket on the Bohpal Express between Delhi and Agra. All seems to be working exactly as it should.

I use MasterCard for the IRCTC.
