I'm going to Delhi in less than a week and would like to know if anyone has recently stayed at budget hotel that they recommend. I'm a solo female looking for something safe and clean. I got recommendations on Anoop Hotel but the person stayed there 6 years ago. I'd prefer a recommendation within the past year or 6 months.
Cheers

have just replied to your other thread. just want to add that you cant really go wrong in paharganj (the backpackers area where downtown is). All the budget hotels are really pretty similar and in good nick. Having said that, everyone has their favorite. Itend to avoid the bigger ones such as anoop, hare rama, ajay as they are a bit busy for my liking but they also have excellent amenities. Anyway, you can always move!

#1: I'll be in Delhi for 2 days then moving on to Rajasthan (udaipur, pushkar and rnakpur) and then one more place..not sure yet. Maybe Punjab or Dharamsala. What's Jaisalmer like?

I am staying at the Anoop right now - it is fine, nothing special, though having access to the Hare Krishna Hotel(next door) rooftop cafe is a big plus. Both Annoop and Krishna are friendly enough staff and safe. The street noise is a bit much, but I think that;s true for most of the places on the Main Bazaar. The hotel scene up on Arakashan road 10 minute walk north is pretty interesting.. a lot less noise, though you spend a bit more up there.

Hi Skar,
I like the Hotel Ajanta. It's on the back part of Pahar Ganj, which means it's a lot quieter.
They have 24 hour guards outside; there are differing qualities of rooms - fully self-contained right down to the ones which just have a bed and the shower/toilets are on the other side of the corridor.
They have a web-site: Hotel Ajanta
It's very clean and they also have rooftop & ground floor restaurants; internet cafe; travel desk and great service.
Cheers
