Foreigners and locals experience Pondy quite differently I think.

The French Quarter has a number of interesting buildings, Christian churches and parks. The museum is small but well worth the visit. You should make a point of visiting Aurobindo Ashram; and taking a trip out to Auroville. For foreigners, the shopping is very good. The Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple has a number of paintings of Ganesha.

Moi aussi. I stayed when it was part of the Neemrana Group. However the hotel has changed hands since (probably twice since I stayed there, it's now part of the Dune Wellness Group) - I'm sure it stilll has appeal however.

It is not a "resort". It is a hotel in the French Quarter of Pondy.

Resort near the beach or a resort with beach access? For me these are two different things :-)

Windflower resort is near the beach but has no direct access to the beach from the property. It is a short walk to the beach. Having stayed here on a trip one, I can say that the rooms are comfortable, nice pool, food is good, service is good.

I have heard from friends that Le Pondy is very good with probably direct access to the beach from the property.
