We -- two people, mid-20s -- will be in Shimla for one or two nights in June. Any recommendations for great places to stay? We would like Western toilets, en suite rooms (private bathrooms), and -- if possible -- beautiful views of the Himalayas.
Of course, we'd like to price to remain reasonable, but please just recommend places that you liked (regardless of price).
Many thanks!

Woodville Palace, just down the Mall Road and 'Willow Banks' bang on The Mall. I vaguely remember the prices to be Rs. 2500/- onwards. WoodVille Palace is a heritage hotel and doesnot have Air-Conditioning.
Agree with WILLEMSPIE.. In June, July, a lot of places will be booked out solid with domestic tourists... Not the best time to go to Shimla to be honest, for one it will be very noisy, with loads of school trips decending on the town en-mass.. The best chance of acommodation would be the high end hotels as your only planing a couple of nights this might be your only option, but it will cost... This is the top Dollar season for hotels as it's baking hot down in the plains and a lot of the middle class from Delhi make for the hills at this time of the year, good luck, it's a great place, well worth the visit it's a shame that you can't leave it till say September/ October, when it's less crowded and the Hotels are a lot cheaper....
Look for a hotel off the beaten track. Not on the track that leads from the Mall to Sanjauli etc., but the opposite direction - towards Chaura Maidan or Boileauganj. Believe me, we haven't seen a tourist here this past month & it's 'high season' already :) You could try Hotel Dalziel or Scottish Cottage (a past of Shimla British Resort) or even the Cecil if you can afford top dollar stuff.
