Dear all, please update the forum with your bargaining skilled finds. Where can we rest our weary heads currently on pallet beach?

It's been a few year since we were there but we arrived by bus with nothing planned and ended up in a little hut with it's own bathroom, a porch/hammock area and wifi. It was called something like coco beach. Very cheap and exactly what we wanted.

Thanks Sofa99, completely understand. Thats what we normally do to. What is " very cheap" for you? It is of course quite subjective :o)
We were there around 5 years ago hence our Question as we are sure things and prices have moved on a bit, It is certainly the case in the other places we have visited in India to date on this trip :O)
Our average for a double with fan and private bathroom was circa 500 IDRs on the beach and also was in the rest of the country although could be as low as 300 if only cold water shower... this time- we are experiencing around the 800 to 1000 INRs for the same thing with only once getting 500 PN in Allepy in the south (Kerela) for quite a grotty little place. Ha ha.
Hoping others can share info- other travellers can also benefit and we will of course update this post as and when we can :o)

We were about 4 years ago but my wife says it was £4 a night, so about 375inr - good value!

We reached Palolem and sorry to tell, the options during February 2019 are woefully disappointing on the budget front and nothing like what they were once from both our experience and that of sofa99 (thanks for the reply though :o))
We hunted and hunted and if you are lucky the place we found will not be full. We secured a bungalow slightly back from the beach (not facing or "partial view") for circa 500 INR. This seemed to be a unique chance as most if not all but this place charge MINIMUM of 1000 INR.
Sadly for travellers on a budget - we might be priced out of the market now if not soon and the new market is Thomas cook/ Tui holiday-makers expecting a higher level of comfort and are prepared to pay for it.

Sounds like the 500 INR option is probably the new price for the sort of place we stayed at. 1000 INR would've been a big chunk of our budget though!
