Hiya all,
Am looking for a bit of weather advice, if anyone has some knowledge to pass on, much appreciated....
am still trying to work out this Monsoon season, seems tricksey!.... have kinda ruled out the South until October at the earliest, but wondered what the North would be like. (That's probably a very vague question, but am happy with a vague answer!)
Anywhere in the North that you would recommend for the month of Sept??? After that i plan to head down South to Goa, Kerala, and wherever....
Thanks a mill, and hope ye're all enjoying your travels (and travel plans),
Karen.

the rains in September in the north could be finishing or it could be pouring, vague enough ?

ps if it is still raining heavily, I would avoid the Himalayas, the plains should be ok. . although floods cant be ruled out in some regions if the rains are heavy

Hmmm... yep vague enough! But thanks. :-) Trying to decide whether to postpone the travels for a month, or to spend Sept somewhere other than India. A little rain wouldn't put me off, but a deluge - yes
Any other weather info - send it on......

Rajasthan northern enough for you? Spend September last year there, had only 1 rainy day and 2 short showers interim. Much to the regret of the Rajasthani's (not mine), because these last years are mostly too dry. With this global warming you can never be sure though (there are no guarantees in life), it may rain like hell. But hey, you're from Ireland and even more used to rain than me, being Dutch. A spot of rain can't harm us!. Enjoy your stay.

#4 Apart from Ladakh and Kashmir, the rains in the Indian himalayas can = washed out roads, roads blocked by landslides, days(or weeks) of rain, mist and drizzle, mountains obscured by clouds, travel difficulties, fresh food supplies running out in remoter villages, also in villages sickness often increases as river levels increase and everything that was along the edges ( you know what I mean ) gets washed into the river (i.e the water supply). When the rain stops however its crystal clear and as bright as a new pin with fresh snow on the peaks. October and November..the time to gop !
