Hi, has anyone had any experiences with Indian dentists/orthodontists?
I've got a dodgy rack of pearls that need straightening but the cost of good orthodontist in the UK will blow your mind (and you bank account). I just refuse to pay that amount of money...when i could quite easily take that money and live in an exotic country for a year while havig the treatment...?
I was originally considering Brazil, well known for good orthodontists, indeed, poineers of many forms of cosmetic trreatment.
But afater my visit to India last year left me spell-bound, i think i'd prefer to give a year of my life to India rather than Brazil...
Any advice would be very appreciated!

There are a "few" good ones .What you need specify which city you are going to be visiting . The bigger the city the better the chance of finding a really good ortho

Thats nice of DEVOO at No. 2 to offer.
I think you should stick to Bigger cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore etc. They may be a bit more expensive than the small town Docs but you will be sure to have your pearlies still in your mouth and not in your hand. Plus the hygine in these docs will be better. I am my self going thru some treatment in Bombay just now and The docs in India (Big cities) are as competitive , may even be better than the US or the Uk ones.
Nowadays lots of people are preffering India, Srilanka etc coumtries for Medical purposes such as Heart, Kidney, IVF etc.because of the costs.
You should narrow down on the place and then ask about the individual docs.
Thanks #3,
Let's aim for Bombay then...surely there's some decent Ortho's services the Bollywood community?

Staying in Mumbai for extensive dental work will be costly because of the time involved. Besides, Mumbai is crowded and polluted. Why not try Goa? A good dentist that expats all rave about is Dr. Otilia Fernandes, whose clinic is behind the church in Colva, just 6 km from Margao. Some expat friends (Australian, Swiss, Italian, British, American) have had root canals, crowns and bridges done by her with good results. Everybody agrees that she is a perfectionist and does excellent work at very reasonable price. I've not met anybody who's had teeth straightening done by her, but you can consult with her to see if she does this. There is another dentist in the same building behind Colva's church, Dr. Ashley Santimano, but the general consensus is that he's not as good. Margao is 12 hours by train south from Mumbai. From Margao Railway Sta., Colva is 6 km away on the beach, and not a bad place to hang out for a few weeks while you're having your teeth worked on. For cheaper accomdation, stay in Benaulim, only three km from Colva.
