We traveled for a month in India. We went to Haridwar and Rishikesh. We visited the Taj Mahal. We made a trip to Kumbh Mela in Allahhabad. We toured Rajasthan and flew from Udaipur to Cochin. We spent four days in an ayurvedic hospital. We toured Kerala with KTDC for six days and stayed in heavenly tea county, and took a houseboat tour. We traveled a great deal and saw a lot in the time we were there. We chose the Hare Krishna Devotee Guest House for our lodging in Delhi, and as our tour guides for the northern part of our trip. We couldn’t have made a better choice. We appreciated the help from the Manager, Hari das, who helped us plan our itinerary. Our driver was a gem. We can’t say enough about Vinod and the other drivers and staff of the Guesthouse. We rode in a Mahindra Scorpio - new vehicle and very comfortable. The Guesthouse could be spruced up a little with some new paint and crisp white sheets, but it was situated in a good district within a short distance from a park. Hare Krishna.

Please tell us more about Haridwar and Richikesh. Which did you like beteter? Were you able to see any of the Himalaya from either. Where did you stay? We are going next November and anxious to hear more. Thanks.

Haridwar and Rishikesh were two of the nicest places we went. They are in the foothills of the Himilayas where the river Ganges comes out of the mountains. Haridwar is a Holy City. You take cable cars up to the temples and receive many blessings. It is strictly vegetarian - no meat is eaten there and no alcohol. Rishikesh is of course where the Beatles went in the 70's. In Rishikesh we stayed at Tapovan resort - highly recommended. We walked over the foot bridge to Lakshman Jhula - no cars on this side.
