HI. I will be traveling to Delhi in July. I purchased my ticket on United Airlines and will fly from DFW to Toronto to Delhi. I have decided to visit Sri Lanka, so now i have purchased a ticket on Sri Lankan Airways. I have a tourist indian visa.
I will arrive at 9:30 PM and my flight leaves the next morning at 5:45 AM. I was thinking I would stay in the Holiday Inn and rest a few hours.
But I am wondering if I even need to do that...
how much time will it take to go through customs/immigration, collect my bags, and then do
I go back through security to get to the hotel? And then they advise checking in 3 hours prior, so that would be 2:45 AM.
What would be the best/easiest plan for me?

Thanks!

Recognize that if you go to the Holiday Inn, you will use your visa... Make sure you have double entry, multiple entry, whatever.. Just not a single entry.... Or you won't be let back!!

SO maybe at hotel by 11..

Seems a lit of money for 4 hours of hotel.... The easiest would be transfer lounge or some priority pay lounge /airport hotel that has showers and a lie down area

There are sleeping pods at IGI . Still a lot of money for a few hours. See delhiairport.com or sleepinginairports.net .

Not the transit hotel. I've stayed in it a few times, when I've been getting a full night's sleep. For the time you have, it makes little sense.

Option 1: When security allow you to enter departures, do that, and find somewhere to stretch out until check-in opens.

Option 2: If you want a degree more comfort, the sleeping pods may be your best choice.

Option 3: There is a "nap and massage" lounge at international arrivals, after baggage claim.

I have had a similar scenario a couple of times in recent years - 10pm arrival, 6am departure or thereabouts.
I have just waited around in the arrivals area for 3-4hrs until the departures area opens. There are some comfy lounge chairs in Cafe Coffee Day. Buy a XL sized iced coffee and drink it V-E-R-Y slowly to pass the time.
