Thinking of visting one of the Chota Char Dam sites Badrinath or Gangotri. Was wondering how much time would i have to devote to a visit there? At least 3 days - 1 day there and 2 days there and back from Dehradun/Rishikesh??

I'd counsel against either option.

You have just two weeks, and you have better things to do with your time.

Visiting either place won't be meaningful to you - unless you are a devotee - and not be of much interest, unless you are a theologian or a sociologist.

The timing is also optimistic. You'd be really pushing to cover Rishikesh to Badrinath in one day; and night driving in those parts is far from recommended. Ditto Gangotri. Unless of course, you take a helicopter.

There are other sites of religious significance much closer to Rishikesh, notwithstanding Rishikesh itself, nor Haridwar come to that.

Uttrakhand is famous for char dhamm yatra. There are four religious temples in uttrakhand named as 1.badrinath(a holy temple of vishnu ji) also known as badri vishall
2.kedarnath(a holy temple of shiva)
3.gangotri (origin of ganga) 4. yamnotri ( origin of yammunaji) all the place is best for worship all the holly sites are best to visit in uttrakhand but these site are most famous because this is holly sites.i spent lots of time in these holly temples

In 3 days, by road you can only do one of these Dhams. However, by helicopter you can undertake a yatra to Badrinath and Kedarnath both or even do all the four Dhams, although it is quite a cost(for more details you may refer to https://travel-blog.waytoindia.com/badrinath-yatra-by-helicopter)
