Hi there. I am interested in travelling to Leh in January or February next year and am looking for some advice for going hiking/ trekking in Hemis National Park.

Firstly, would I be able to get permits for the park as a solo foreign traveler?

I am not interested in joining a large tour group or hiring a small army of cooks, porters, guides etc but I would like a chance to see a snow leopard so would possibly be interested in hiring or making use of a guide/ wildlife spotter. Can anyone make any recommendations regarding this?

Has anyone gone trekking in Hemis independently, or hired a spotter in Leh?

The best info I could find was a blog where they went hiking but got turned back because they didn't have permits so not all that useful :)

Thanks!

Well lots of people have trekked there ... in the summer season. You just pay the entrance fee on the spot.
