Hi there friends,
I had a rather unfortunate incident, which I hope, with some caution, none of you have to face.
I was staying at the Grand Godwin hotel, or the Arakashan road in Paharganj, in New Delhi. Probably a better hotel then most in that area. I came back in the afternoon, went to get my key at reception, but was told that my roon was 'being cleaned at the moment'. So I went upstairs anyway to my room, only to find 10...yes you heard it..TEN of the concierges, bell boys, cleaners, room service boys and whoever all congregating in my room, watching movies, and hanging out. I soon found out that this happens alot in this hotel, and especially this room in particular.
Soon after, I went to complain to the on-duty manager 'Peter', who briskly passed it off, and said 'we'll investigate' with little conviction, and to be frank didnt seem to give a monkies. Fortunately I all my valuables in my moneybelt when I was out of my room.
Guys, I would be cautious before staying here, and if you must or already are then please please make sure you DO NOT stay in room 409.
Safe travels for now..

Were they perchance watching the Cricket World Cup?? If so, this would have been a common occurrence anywhere where a tv was available. These bellboys, hotel staff are usually from a poorer background and absolutely addicted to cricket. Maybe it would never have happened at any other time....

I've seen this occasionally in other hotels around India ... although the staff usually have the decency to use an unoccupied room.

Tigersphan, I think you missed the point off my post. Regardless of what they were watching, the fact that my stuff was in the room, and this daily 'hang out' session was done behind the backs of the management, and as a hidden activity. I dont think they would be having such gatherings in an occupied room, if the manager or owner was
nearby them.
To me, that says that the staff obivously dont give a damn about the management, so I cant imagine any respect or thought given to the guests in this case.
The hotel that ive checked into now, has a congregating area where staff go when they arent so busy. Also, there is usually a maturer supervisor present when the rooms are cleaned.
p
Lol, as to what they were watching - India aren't in the world cup. I think they were watching a 70s bollywood movie...
