Hi All,
My mother is suffering from fever which is on and off from almost last 3 months(starting jan 2007 -tilldate), we got her admitted to hospital for almost 10 days where they conducted various sets of tests, all the tests have shown-up negative means no major diseases found, her only improper test results are high ESR and low WBC counts, the doctors have failed to diagnose the problem.
I want some light to be shed on this, if anyone knows anything of this kind of problem, any known case study like this and possible remedy
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Krishna

Something like this happened to me. my GPs reckoned I had pneumonia but the low-grade fever went on for months and I couldn't get better. Finally I had to go to hospital for lung biopsy which showed nothing definite....steroids for severla months finally cured me.... you need to see a highly qualified consultant physician.
Good luck.

Krishna,
With no disrepect to you, your family or the contributors to this forum, I don't think this is an appropriate place to ask for specialist medical advice.
You haven't mentioned which hospital or which city you took her to... the only thing I can suggest would be a second opinion with another doctor, possibly a rheumatologist (given the high ESR).
You may also want to ask the doctors to test for lupus. For clarification, the high erythrocyte sedimentation rate is an indication that there body is experiencing inflamation issues however, it can also occur in people who are elderly.
Good luck

Krishna, take your mother to a GOOD hospital, like the Apollo group, or East-West hospital in Delhi. Government hospitals are no good in India.

Zoltan, it would seem that coming to ask advice here is not such a mistake - given your suggestions. I think the OP is just at a loss.
OP, ask your question on the health branch. There are usually a few doctors hanging out over there, a nurse or two and random interested but unqualified members of TT world.

NI,
Fair call. And I must admit, I hadn't thought of the Health Branch (never been there myself; yet).
Cheers
Zoltan

Could be malaria, the parasites show up on the test only during a certain pahse of the disease.

Thank you all.
I am just running around with her to doctor and hospital. Will soon answer all your further questions. Just thought of thanking you all for the time being. Will update you all further.

Krishna
